We’re excited to announce that “Free Love Until Love is Free” is a go — the team just secured funding to pay contributors! Expect us to follow up with specific details soon.

For now, feel free to read the following call for submissions for the zine. We ask that you please refrain from circulating the call beyond this site, as it remains a draft and is not yet ready to be spread widely.

📝Ⓐ CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: “Free Love Until Love is Free” 🖤📝

OPIRG Toronto invites you to submit to a curated zine titled, “Free Love Until Love is Free: Reflections on Making Monogamy Obselete.” We are seeking writing, art, or any printable media on the topic of relationship anarchy (RA) praxis.

Due: [TBD].
Compensation: [TBC].
Length: <2,000 words for prose.
Email: opirgtoinfoshop@riseup.net or upload to actionspeakslouder.noblogs.org.
Guidelines:

  • Provide image descriptions (IDs) for visual media. You can provide them after your contribution is accepted, if you prefer.
  • Refrain from submitting apologia for polyamory, monogamy, or any other colonial form of relating.
  • Promote curiousity, not agreement.

Below are some topics we’re especially interested in, but in no way limiting submissions to:

  • RA as praxis, not identity: Share your vision or your experience of what RA infrastructure looks like. Explore concrete alternatives to the distribution of care and resources under monogamism. Or send us your stories or case studies of successful RA projects, groups, or specific relationships!
  • Language for a positive platform: Interrogate the way monogamism structures language and therefore relationships, and provide alternatives for it. Consider: labels, consent (and its various forms), cheating, family, relationships with the non-human, etc.
  • A non-prescriptive approach: Colonial forms of relating prevail, yet, people are nevertheless the expert on their own lives and relationships. How do we approach individuals about RA while affirming their autonomy and expertise? How do we get them excited about RA?
